Our History
We are the original Church in Summerlin.
Back in 1990, when the master-planned community of Summerlin was in its early stages, a congregation called Summerlin Evangelical Lutheran Church was the very first church to open its doors. Decades later, hundreds of thousands of people have moved in and the original church of Summerlin has changed its name. We are now Foundation Lutheran Church. But although we have a fresh look and a new pastor, we rest on the same foundation of God’s Word about Jesus Christ our Savior.
Our Church Body
We’re all around the world.
We are a proud member of an international church body called the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. Don’t let the state name fool you: this is simply a product of German Lutherans immigrating to America in the mid-1800s and settling in the Milwaukee, WI area. Currently, there are almost 400,000 members throughout the United States, missionaries in multiple countries overseas, and other church bodies all over the planet in fellowship with us.

Worship
What can you expect worship to be like?
First of all, the content of worship will all be based on God’s Word. It might not all be exact quotations from the Bible, but it will at the very least summarize what God says in his Word.
And secondly, the style of worship will be a combination of the wonderful words and music that Christians have used for thousands of years along with the beautiful arrangements and poetry produced by Christians in our day and age. We want to respect the past as well as embrace the talents of those who live right now.
There will be songs and prayers, statements of faith and blessings, a confession of sin and an announcement of forgiveness, a sermon and hymns. it will all be printed for you so that you can easily follow along.
Education
a key component to our ministry.
Adults
We want all people to grow in their knowledge of Jesus as well as understand the multi-faceted jewels of his Word, so we will offer several Bible studies for adults at different times in different places. Each one will be based solely on God’s Word and will be taught by Pastor Frey personally.
Children
There will be a number of opportunities for children to learn more about their Savior in the following ways:
0-5 Year Olds
Move to the Music every Monday at 10am, a free parent & toddler time featuring music, Bible stories, and movement appropriate for young ones taught by Jessica Frey
3-5 Preschool
In the future a preschool on campus is planned, taught by Jessica Frey who was a preschool director in Colorado for 11 years
3-14 Building Blocks
A Sunday morning hour long learning experience for kids involving Bibles stories, crafts, songs, and activities while their parents have an opportunity to study God’s Word with other adults
5-14 Youth Group
Age appropriate activities and events led by qualified adults.
13-18 Teen Group
Age appropriate activities and events led by qualified adults

Service
Community service projects
Our congregation will be involved with the community as much as possible, volunteering for service projects. From teaming up with current non-profits to filling a need that has not yet been met, we are looking forward to lending a helping hand to those who need it.
Recently, we’ve been teaming up with Richard Bryan Elementary School right across the street from the church. We’ve volunteered for the Christmas reading program, a parent’s information night, and to help out with a book drive this spring. We’ll continue to participate in the events that they already have on their schedule as well as collaborate with them to serve the community in new and unique ways.
Outreach
We want to share the good news about our Savior with everyone!
We are not a secret club that will hide behind our four walls. We want to invite and encourage more and more people to hear about this salvation through Jesus and get to know their Lord and his love and his grace!
