On December 7th, 1941, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. 2403 military personnel and civilians died. In 1994, December 7th was designated as the official remembrance day of the attack to honor those who not only died because of that attack but also those who fought in WWII in response to it.
We are coming up to an even more important remembrance day at the end of December: Christmas. We celebrate Jesus’ birth in anticipation of his death. He entered this world to sacrifice himself for the people of this world, winning forgiveness for everyone and promising salvation to all who believe in him as their Savior.
I would hope that you do remember the men and women whose lives were taken on December 7th, 1941 this Wednesday. But the sacrifice that Jesus made for you by coming to this earth as your Substitute on the cross is an event much more incredible. That sacrifice is worth celebrating every single day.
