No Pressure

The angel Gabriel appeared to a young girl named Mary and informed her that she was going to give birth to the Son of God himself. No pressure.

An angel spoke to Joseph and told him that he was supposed to take this pregnant young woman as his wife and raise the Son of God himself. No pressure.

This couple had to travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem in the late stages of Mary’s pregnancy to take part in a Roman census. But when they arrived there wasn’t a single hotel room available. They had to take refuge in a barn just in time for the Son of God himself to be born. No pressure.

Really, there was no pressure. I’m sure Mary and Joseph felt like the world was hanging on their shoulders, but God the Father had arranged all of it to play out just like it did so that Jesus would be born in exactly the right place at exactly the right time in exactly the right way. It wasn’t up to Mary and Joseph to make sure everything was in order. God had that covered. He guided history so that the Son of God himself would enter this world to begin the greatest rescue mission ever told in the most unlikely of ways. And despite his inauspicious beginning, there was nothing that could stop him and no one who could prevent him from carrying out our salvation. No pressure.
